I really have nothing to complain about it. It's sturdy, comfortable, and easy to set up. Its shape is custom-designed for the IONIQ 5. One of its interesting features is that it can be used in two configurations: double or single. The two halves of the mattress can be inflated independently. In my case, I travel solo, so inflating just one half is ideal for sleeping on one side of the car and placing equipment and other luggage on the other side.

Privacy

I hesitated before purchasing the LUNO curtain. I wasn't convinced it was essential. However, from the very first night in the car, I quickly realized that it was a must-have. In the IONIQ 5, the rear windows are tinted, which is perfect for not being too visible from the outside. However, the front windows are not tinted, making the curtain quite useful.

However, its greatest utility is blocking the light that comes from the car's dashboard during the night. When you put the car in utility mode (Camping Mode), the dashboard still remains illuminated. Even if you reduce the brightness to the minimum, it remains a significant source of light. This makes the curtain even more valuable.

Comfort

Much like Tesla's camping mode, the IONIQ 5 has a utility mode. Once in this state, the car allows us to use all its electrical systems without worrying about draining the 12V battery. For example, the energy from the large battery can be used all night to power the air conditioning or heating, depending on the situation, to maintain a comfortable temperature inside the car. At the same time, this ensures good airflow during sleep hours.

Another important advantage of using the heat pump at night is the dehumidification of the air in the cabin. This prevents moisture buildup and avoids waking up with fogged windows and damp clothes.

Another advantage of sleeping in the car that contributes to comfort is its high level of sound insulation. Once inside, all the noises from passing cars, conversations from nearby campers, or any other sounds that could disturb sleep are reduced to such an extent that you can almost achieve silence.

Some of the items referenced in this article can be found by following the links below.

Purchased Equipment:
– LUNO Curtain https://amzn.to/3Y9VySl
– LUNO Mattress https://lunolife.com/en-ca/products/air-vehicle-mattress

*By using my links to order from Amazon, you help me cover hosting costs and keep this blog ad-free.
